The voltage regulator that came with the engine 20 years ago ( 2200 #535) failed shortly after installation. I had a 20 A circuit breaker in series between the regulator and battery, it did not break at any time. It took me 18 years , two Odyssey 680 and one LiFePo4 batteriy to realize the fault in the regulator, I now have a overvoltage relay installed ( and a new regulator)
